Been there many times. The view is deceiving because it looks right up the deep V notch between two ranges split by the Lake Fork of the San Miguel. From across the lake to the north you see the ridge that Lizard Head station sits on. From the south you look across the lake and see the Vermillion Cliffs. The unitiated (sorry boys) look at this and say, "Nope, can't be Trout Lake, no towering mountains." This is looking due east at the tank and towards bridge 51A at the end of the lake.
