I have seen the results of the work of many, many photographers, taken in the DSNGRR museum and the operating side of the roundhouse. Usually I see these because one member of the family or group is taking all the photos of the other members and he or she is not able to be in any of those photos. Hence, I ask the visitor if they'd like me to use their camera to take a group picture of all the group.
Mike's advice is very good, especially for a film camera. I would just add that, as far as the low light is concerned--take the pictures with a digital camera!
