Yes... Thanks for the information and many thanks to Steve for colorizing the images.
Just so eveyone knows...
Overall, finishes appears to be consistant with standard H.K. Porter schemes as shown in early H.K. Porter catalogs.
Finishes found on the locomotive.
- boiler and smoke box unfinished
- cylinder and boiler wrap or lagging planished iron
- cast iron parts painted black
- machined areas unfinished
- cast bronze valves and fittings painted black
- oak/ash with spruce roof and canvas covering
- cab exterior black, evidence indicates green interior - still to be confirmed
- cherry windows original finish unknown
Finishes on other surviving DYMCo parts
- headlight black with red and gold striping and white or silver lettering with yellow, brown and red shadows or highlighting
- bell rubbed finish on outside, red inside
- bell carriage, yoke, crank and tapper painted black
Features found in photos
- bell knob or finial painted black
- striping on cab, saddle tank, sand box and bell carriage
Unknown color for DYMCo lettering on saddle tank and number on cab. White doesn't seem appropriate.
Please note there are some exceptions to above and not mentioned here.
Regards...
