Tickets Are Not Taxable Anyway!

Former Commissioner Dave Cargo really ought to consult with former Commissioner and current NM lobbyist Carl Turner about C&TSRR taxes before he goes popping off to the press. As Carl Turner has long had to explain, the railroad's ticket revenues are not subject to NM gross receipts tax, and never have been, because the railroad is an interstate carrier. For-profit operators such as Scenic, Kyle, and Bartholomew never paid such a tax. Being a 501(c)(3) or not is irrelevant.
One would think a former NM Governor and Commission Chairman would be knowledgeable about such matters, and maybe he is, but, if one craves attention, why worry about the facts.
