Spending $14,300 for a season on local radio advertising in Chama is not only supportive of local business, it's also just plain smart. Over the years analyses by RGRPC and CTSMC have consistently shown that more than half of the tourists riding the C&TS don't make reservations until 48 hours or less before departure time. Usually they are already vacationing in the mountains and don't have fixed plans on what to do a day or two ahead of time.
So, what better way to reach this "demographic" than by advertising over TV stations that cover the Southern Rockies and over a local radio station like the one in Chama. Anyone who has spent any time in Chama knows that most anywhere you go you hear that station in the local establishments. What a great example of effective narrow-casting, and what a bargain.
