This was a good discussion. and mostly accurate. All the piston valves on the K-27s were inside admission. The 454, 456, 458, and 461 were probably set up with stephenson valve gear. Has anyone ever seen a picture of one of them with piston valves and Stephenson gear? I have not.
The main axle on the 463 has keyways for Stephenson eccentrics although there is no indication that the eccentrics were ever applied. I have long suspected that that axle was made so that it could be applied on any K-27 and was eventually used on 463. There may be a date stamped on the end of the axle but I cant recall what it is.
