Were we to build south from Sheepscot Station, we would first have to cross Cross Road. About a half mile south of that is about 1000 feet of privately owned ROW. That is the only privately owned ROW between us and the Wiscasset town line.
However, in Wiscasset the ROW is all in the hands of private individuals. Plus there would be 3 roads to cross, 2 houses built right on the roadbed (and possibly other houses too close to it), and a mile or so of shorefront, some of which is eroding away. So a return to Wiscasset would require a great deal of hard work.
