Lon, I am thinking SVCartoad might know something on this if anyone does. I don't know of any small mills that were operating east of where the photo was taken that late, that I have heard of that could have produced the cants. It seems like anything on the end of the line nearer to Baker than Bates would have gone to the Stoddard mill(former BWP mill in S Baker. The mill in Sumpter was apparently closed by 1941 as the connecting trackage was part of what was retired on the AFE I posted about.
