From the SVRy Roadway Completion Reports (AFE's) 65 years ago come January SVRy retired the depot at Sumpter constructed in 1908, retired the main from S Wye to Sumpter and all tracks and sidings at Sumpter. Under this AFE both east and west legs of S wye were relocated. I am not sure for what purpose, but the changes weren't too extensive.
So from this info the depot in Sumpter having been built in 1908, I wonder what they had for a depot at Sumpter from 1896 to 1908? The Sumpter depot that we know about was a bit more plain than any of the rest of the manned depots on the line. It makes me wonder if there was a previous depot that may have been more like the others that might have burned?
