Welcome to the RH&DR on-line and the official website for Kent's world famous mainline in miniature, the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.
First opened to traffic in July 1927 as the 'World's Smallest Public Railway' and now covering a distance of 13.5 miles from the picturesque Cinque Port of Hythe, near the channel tunnel, to the fishermans cottages and lighthouses at Dungeness.
I recall when the Redwood Valley in Tilden Park took their 4-4-0 to the RH&D about 10 years ago. It was interesting seeing a 5" scale steamer running with 1/3 sized equipment. The 4-4-0 was able (as I recall) to keep its train on-time with those of the RH&D.
I also seem to recall that the trains were armed during WWII.
