The earliest I recall seeing photos of the "318" tender was behind 345 when it went off to the C&S on lease. The "318" tender is especially wide - 90 or 92 inches I seem to recall and seems to have been a one of a kind because of that. 340 had that tender in the mid-40's and it then migrated to 318 which was used on the Ouray run at that time.
The only cases of tenders staying in a location and the locos switching seems to have been at 3-rail yards (such as Salida and Durango) because the tenders had 3-way coupler pockets. Photos show the same tender behind 272 & 278 in the teens and twenties.
