Mike,
We have just about all of number 100, but it won't all be going back together. When the Sumpter Valley shut down, the car was dismantled, with the tank itself being kept by the Hines Lumber Company, having its dome cut off, and being fitted with truck axles to be used as a water trailer to keep dust down. The rest of the car went with Shay number 7 to the Black Hills Central along with the idler flat, and was retrieved in the early 90's. Since the original tank was heavily modified, we decided it would be more practical to swap it with the tank from a sister car of the same class. When we acquired WP&YR tankcar 60 last year, we swpped her tank with the 100's original. So currently the original chopped dome tank of the 100 is being used on our fire car. The nice thing is with the dome gone, it fits under the water tower spout for easy refilling.
Work will likely begin on the tankcar 100 project next year, and may even be capable of being finished in a season.
Our other tankcar is WP&YR number 61, From 2003-2006 she was painted as SVRy 101 to represent the appearance of the original 100, complete with black center. This spring she was returned to full White Pass livery for the Huxtable/Cummings charter.
Thanks, Taylor
