The little Heisler was abandoned in the woods by the Clearlake Lumber Co. sometime before 1950 and recovered by the Holmes brothers, the late Neil Vodden and the late Charley Ward about 1955. They had the engine moved to Billy Jones' ranch in Los Gatos Ca. where they restored her over a period of several years. At that time there was no place to run her so they sold her to Hal. They called her the "Elk".
