Dick, sorry to disagree, but what you are describing isn't Newfoundland. It is in the province of Prince Edward Island, our smallest province, and also an island. The Prince Edward Island Railway was originally narrow gauge, but was converted to standard gauge. Today, the entire line is a linear park (i.e trail, like the old Rock Island trail in Kansas). There is a small railway museum at Elmira PEI, where the baggage car you refer to was scrapped not too long ago.Elmira is close to Souris. There is also an old CN Alco (MLW) diesel on display at Kensington PEI.
In regards to Nfld narrow gauge, I'll go through my stuff and see if I can come up with some up-to-date info on what's left there. The rail line was ripped up in 1989.
