A history of the Eagles Mere Railroad can be found in the book: "American Narrow Gauge Railroads" by George W. Hilton. In a nutshell, The Eagles Mere was incorporated on September 11, 1891 to build a narrow gauge from Sonestown to Eagles Mere PA at the foot of Eagles Mere Lake (8 miles). It was constructed during the summer of 1892. An additional 2 miles were constructed in 1902 & 1903.
The line initially started operations with two 4-4-0s but later switched to Climax locos because of the steep grades.
Passenger service ended in 1923, and the line was abandoned in 1928.
I hope this helps.
