This reply is not just for you but to all to provide information about the CRF and the equipment in Antonito. At the present time, the Antonito CRF building has the cook car and a partially completed drop bottom gon inside. That pretty much fills the interior. On the building leads ouside, a 6500 series flat is awaiting restooration on the south lead and another car is on the north lead. Most of the passenger car fleet occupies the track leading to the CRF area. Much switching would have to be done to even get the caboose to the building.
While it is a nice idea to ask about inside storage for a treasure like the 0579 (I really enjoyed riding it briefly), there just isn't a short term solution for that. The whole premise of the CRF is to have protection for in-progress projects over the winter months between work sessions and to possibly do some winter work weekends. A long term goal of the Friends is to have some type of secure storage for equipment such as the 0579. That is a few years off at this time, but it is being discussed seriously.
