Carbon Junction was not all that big, and with empties from Farmington and loads coming in from Alamosa, I imagine keeping all that sorted out could get complicated as there was also Durango and Silverton freight. Most folks don't know that when Standard Uranium was reopening the American Tunnel in Gladstone that all their incoming freight came to Silverton by rail--several hundred car loads in the 1957-59 period.
