A bittersweet memory--that was the Rocky Mtn. RR Club excursion, and the day before, the train had run to Silverton--3 days solid of narrow gauge train riding. But, the evening before, I and a couple of new friends I had made on the trip, Roger Cook and Karl Zimmerman, ran into Allen Nossaman in the Diamond Belle bar at the Strater--Allen spent time in Durango, and was a patron of some of the better watering holes. We had such a good time visiting with Allen, and imbibing far too much alcohol, that getting on that last east bound train the next morning that Coke recalls was quite a chore. But what a great experience never to be repeated.
