Following from Short Line Railroader Magz, #36 3rd Q 1958: From story on history of the SLVS RR/SSLV RR:
"SSLV remained in full operation through the 1957 harvest, finally clamping an embargo on the line below McClintock in March of this year after vegetable growers on the south end gave up efforts to raise money to buy the segment. A trucker from La Jara, CO, immediately began pulling up rails for resale to Climax Molybdenum Co. for their mine at Climax, CO and by June most of the iron from Jaroso to a point several miles north of San Acacio had been removed. A mile of track south of San Acacio was sold to a local man, along with a section motorcar to have fun with. The remaining rail was purchased by Climax Molybdenum for removal as needed." not c/r & past copyright by William S. Young
My question is: Is the one mile of track still there for trackcar running?
Note: This company still has track at Blanca as a terminal switch company of irregular service.
