RGS had a number of problems with bridges and trestles. The Rotary collapsed a bridge in 1914. Note the following letter:

Dear Sir:
The attached letter from our Mr. Beerbauer is respectfully referred to you. You will note that our bridges seem to be a little weak for the Rotary and we are experiencing considerable trouble from broken stringers. We have used the greatest care in moving the Rotary over bridges, but do not seem to be able to avoid breaking stringers. I think the suggestion offered would be much the cheaper and better in the long run.
Please advise what your wishes are in the matter.
Yours Truly
W.D. Lee
