The RGS was built with a disproportionate amount of its trackage on high trestles. My question is, what kind of budget was required to maintain such a physical plant? Since the RGS did not seem to have much of a budget in the later days, it appears that the trestles were rather well built and durable ( or there was a lot of patching going on behind the scenes ). Was the longevity of the bridges due to good construction or good maintenance?
