Nick,
2-8-0 #318 used idler cars to switch standard gauge cars right up to the end of narrow gauge operations in Montrose in 1953. This was the last terminal on the D&RGW to do this. There are 2 pictures of the #318 doing just this in 1952 in the Colorado Rail Annual #11 on page 192.
