I did this in 1998 (jeez- that long ago already!) from Durango.
I used maps and articles from the NG Gazette, and the book "Ghost RRs in Colorado" for info.
I only made it to Ophir by the end of daylite for pictures, mainly because I used too much time trying to find and photo the grade between Durango and Delores.
But it was a personal triumph for me to be standing there looking up at Lizard Head !
There and the Trout Lake area... is there any place more beautiful on Earth ?
It all depends what your own interests are, but I wished I had allowed myself more time up in the mountains.
Ophir to Ridgway still on my hitlist.
Don't forget drinking water, and some insect repellant if you intend to hike any of it.
I hope you will post photos of your findings.
