Thanks for the praise. My entire book is targeted for for the live steam hobbyist who does not really know what to look for and when to be concerned about different items in civil engineering. Much of it can be useful for most any gauge. I have donated a copy to the Friends for our library.
I laughed at a local museum that argued for 2-3 weeks over using the RR definition (chord) or the highway definition (arc) of degree of curvature (DOC). They were designing with radii in the 800 foot range. The two definitions to the DOC are identical to two decimal places down to about a 600 foot radius (0.01' = about 1/8th of an inch).
