Unless you are a contortionist, #9's cab is way to tight for anyone that runs it to sit down in. Several seats have been tried, none have worked all that well. Also, unless you stand up or sit on the cab windowsill, all you can see going downhill is the tender (which among other potential problems makes it hard to judge your speed). From the placement of the brake handles (which is original C&S) it would see that the locomotive was intended to be run from the standing position. From a historic standpoint, #9 is a pleasure to run. From a practical standpoint, it is hot and a hell of a workout (but still a pleasure!)
