Am I correct in understanding that this locomotive is not near the route of the railroad on which it operated? It is hard to see a reason why it was hauled off and dumped. It seems like it would have been easier and econmically more attractive to just scrap it. I also don't understand how it got buried.
Unless there is a rational explanation to disposing of the engine the way they did, the only explanation that seems vaguely possible is that it was an emotional reaction to somebody getting killed in the expolsion. Very curious find.
