Beware of increased survailence of manifests of airlines that leave from friendly countries to Cuba. Homeland Security has been checking passenger lists. If you get caught going and you are traveling on a US passport it can be a bad thing.
Besides most of the steam is cold now days. Only few mills use a limited number of locos in the harvest season. It has been from November to April in the past. However the Cuban Government has closed more and more mills. Cuban Sugar is not competitively priced on the world market.
I would say maybe a dozen engines operate in the Harvest Season. The rest are steamed up at museums and mills for tourists.
