In case anyone is in the market for a wide-gage steam locomotive, New Orleans and Gulf Coast Railway (NOGC) is selling a former Espee 2-6-0:
The listing says "The 1744 has logged only 93 days of service under FRA sec.230.17, a 1472 service day inspection of the entire boiler."
I was not familiar with this locomotive, so I did some quick searching and found this page:
It shows the locomotive in service on the Fort Worth and Western.
Trains.com has a listing for the "Big Easy Steam Train" where 1744 apparently operated, but the domain name they trains.com has for it is now occupied by a domain squatter. I presume that Katrina wiped out the demand for a tourist train in the Big Easy.
