Steve: I'm 'not' at C&S expert, but I have researched a lot on C&S NG motive power. My impression after looking at a lot of data on tonage over the passes C&S NG worked...is that she was a pretty good size mogul for NG purposes, and that she had pulling power that surpassed her tractive effort numbers. She would often be switched in, on a long drag, in place of a good size 2-8-0.
Perhaps Steve T. could give us his impressions of her tractive effort, in practical real life terms.
There has been speculation that #9 will go to Breckenridge when #111 is finished and will be used on the Loop, because of #111's pulling power.
Based on Steve T.'s report, maybe that position should be re-thought! Certainly the loop would give more historical/operation exposure for #9 than Breckenridge would. Opinions?
