IT IS NOT A BEEDE 4!!!!! It is a Wickham model A serial no. 1 Bluebird ( Boeing Field tower named it after it was first painted in 1956), the twin is the model B serial no. 1.
The single plane was designed and built by my father. He started working on it the fall of 1948 and finished it with its first flight June 16th of 1955, when I was nine years old. Jim Beede would have been in grade scool or high school during that time. Both planes were kept and are kept at Seattle area airports. Also more one of a kind or first of a kind homebuilt planes have come out of the Puget Sound Basin than any other local of the U.S.
The picture was taken about two weeks ago over Puget Sound.
