It is funny how one posting can trip the mind to put things together.
There is a walk-in Ice Box in the south-east corner of the Chama Depot freight room. About 6 x 10 ft room with plug refig door in maple with chrome hinges and the works. Obviously no mechanical equip included just a very well insuclated room. I wondered what if was for and now I suspect that one use was for ice for the trains returning to Durango and Alamosa.
I know there was an earlier separate Ice HOuse over by the hotel on some of the drawings also. Not as large as the Durango unit, maybe 1/3 that size and not really on the track siding.
I thinnk this is the beauty of these postings that we trip to other observations.
