John Goldie asked:
"Wondering on definitions of the various suffixs used on tank locomotives.....
T = standard saddle tank
ST = seperate side tanks
RT = small rear tanks only (no boiler tank)
TB = large rear tanks, usually supported by a 4 wheel trailing truck
Anyone with other defitions or suffixs used?"
terms in use worldwide
T = side tank
ST = saddle tank
WT = well tank (between the frames)
RT = rear tank
There are a few others which only lead to confusion.
