The tent is open on one side and seated at a table within are two people selling raffle tickets for a season pass on the C&TS, proceeds going to the Chama Chamber of Commerce. I bought 5 and let them put some kids names in instead of mine. The Christmas Train was a wonderland fantasy, steam billowing into the sky, a huge wreath on the nose of the locomotive, a bonfire burning in the parking lot and hot cider and cookies inside the station. As the train departed wind blew flurries of snow across the scene giving the whole event the last, perfect touch of the artist's brush. At Dalton, a big red fire engine carrying Santa Claus plunged up the road through the snow with sirens and horns competing with the steam wkistles of the arriving train. Lights were flashing while thejoyful sounds echoed magnificently from the mountainsides. I am so grateful to the people on this site for having given me the information last night about the train and for the webcams that allowed me to see the snowy yard before I made up my mind this morning to head north to Chama from Santa Fe. Thank you all and Merry Christmas!
