Well if it's what they had when you first saw them you may feel differently than someone like me. Heck, I'm not old enough to remember the real Rio Grande ng in person--my first experience was seeing the 478 returning light from Silverton back in 1982. I was in first or second grade. The loco's then had those perfect straight stacks and I've been hooked on the ng ever since. Over the years as I did more reseach on the D&RGW ng I came to resent the "fake stacks" because I didn't see the point in making an authentic steam locomotive look older by placing diamond stack on it. I guess the movies had some influence on this? I know some who love the fake stacks and those who can't stand them--it's all personal opinion. I glad that once again the stacks on the D&S are straight--like they should be and those god-awful beartraps are gone--to me just another version of the fake diamond stacks. Just my 2 cents. Like I said it's all a matter of opinion, and I respect anybody's viewpoint--but I don't have to like it. Cheers!
