El Coke, you may get to see a Willamette someday soon. Jerry Helinga and company are restoring a Willamette in Medford, Oregon. Sumpter Valley Machine Works is doing some work for these guys. If Jerry reads the ngdiscussion he can give an update on progress. It is a std. gauge engine. I don't believe Willamette ever made a NG version, but I may be wrong on that.
Jerry and friend Larry Tuttle are members of SVRy and have contributed much. Last Summer they cleaned up a WP&Y oil tank car and converted it to a fire car complete with water pump and nozzles. They did an outstanding job. It is real easy to use. The Rear Brakeman stands on the A platform of the the caboose and starts the pump when needed, then returns to his passengers. Photos are on svry.com.
I had the interesting experience of running # 19 with bunker C recovered from the White Pass tank. Hot stuff, once you get it lit!
