There were several boxcars left in Farmington. I believe there were about 27 or 28 cars in Farmington. I would have to look at my notes for the exact number. They had been sold to a drilling company for storage. They were intact on rails and in their original paint. I took notes and photographed all of them in the early 1970's. Later they were sold off and I believe some had been burned by vandals. One of those burned I understand was #3333 which was remarkably well preserved at the end--with relatively little deterioration to its paint and lettering. I was quite disappointed that that car had been lost.
There were also about twelve boxcars that had been set up in the highway department yard in Aztec. They had been taken off their trucks but were otherwise fairly intact with their original paint, etc. I photographed and took notes on those as well. I believe some of those ended up at Hermosa.
As for the two bulkhead flats, they came in loaded on the last train to Farmington on August 31, 1968. They were left there and scrapped when the line was scrapped. They were already gone when I photographed the boxcars.
