Even if you kept the coal pile wet down with the squirt hose, you got plenty of dust....When you sweat, you got the stuff all over you.
Cleaning up at the Foster Hotel in Chama was always an excercise...The "john" was down the hall from the rooms upstairs and had about a ten watt light bulb in it. Plenty of shadows..You could scrub your face & ears with soapy water, towel off, and when you got downstairs into the beanery, you still had dark eye sockets full of coal dust!....Hilarious!
