"Now that the trains have stopped running, I imagine that you have nothing to do except sit back and read e-mail??"
Ha Ha! Members are busy as can be working on renovation, repairs, plans for next season and our newest venture, the Sumpter Valley Machine Work LLC. See our web site for info on this newest venture.
The reason we cannot get to the Depot yet is we have yet to meet requirements established by Oregon Dept. of Transportation, Rail Division. We plan to have all the necessary parts to complete the flashing lights requirement ordered by Jan 1, 2006 and installed before opening next season. However, Oregon State Parks is required to provide a pedestrian path and gaurdrails over the tracks, and we cannot get final approval until they complete their part also. OPRD has promised to finish their commitment early next season also. So, stay tuned, this saga has been ongoing for nearly 4 years now!
