Re: more tales from the crypt.

Speaking of the Vancouver Area, back in the early 1970's there was a long lived story going around the Pacific North West about a longing locomotive being lost in the bush east of Vancouver after a forest fire stranded it many years ago. For years many people spent days Hiking around the Stave Lake area trying to find the Shay, Climax or what ever they last heard it was. Some came back with stories of finding it. However they couldn't find their way back and it was way to dark in the deep rain forests of British Columbia to take pictures of it.
Did we believe these "sightings"? Well, did I mention that Crown Royal was cheap up there.
Finally, around 1973, EUREKA! Someone found it and could even find their way back to it as well. They even went as far as to hire a S-61 helicopter to sling the "find" out in pieces and re-assemble it as a display in the local camp ground.
It still sits there today.
And what type of engine was it you ask? A heisler? no. A three truck Willimate shay maybe? not really. Well then it must have been that 2-6-6-2 Alco with the saddle tank that all those hikers spotted. Sorry, but no. Remember the Crown Royal?
Now on display, near the Alouette Lake Campground about an hour east of Vancouver, is a nicely painted two drum, up right boiler, steam donkey.
Its amazing what people think they see in the bush when drinking Rye. Did you know there are lots of big foot sightings around here to?
Tim
P.S. Thank for prints John, they are now framed and on the wall. They look great! I be in touch with my next order soon.
