Non attended stock shipments, most live stock heading to market was sent with out attendents as the cattle were often already sold to a broker who then set up the shipping from Alamosa to the best price market location, most often Denver-Kansas City-Des moines-Chicago.
When the Cattle/Sheep are moved from Low lands to the high pasture for summer grazing and back again for winter they were accompanied by cattlemen or sheep hearders.
