The long range plan does hold some hope of putting the 463 back in service. But, as usual, it is a case of priorities and lack of funds that ultimately determine where the expenditures go.
The last I heard is that the hope was to have six engines operational. At present, there are three K-36 s 484, 487 488. The 489 is the planned next overhaul. After that likely the 463 would come next ahead of any K-37 s.
Right now the big concern is financing the normal maintainance requirements of the three operational locomotives as the hurricanes and gas prices really shot a hole in what was hoped to be a profitable year.
