#50 had just added the caboose (a birthday charter) to the end of the regular train and was returning around the balloon slowly when it found a soft joint and derailed. In doing so, it bent and disabled the brakes. We were able to rerail it within 30 minutes but without brakes I wasn't about to move it under it's own power. #50 isn't equalized so it doesn't usually venture beyond the shop. We had just finished tapeing #40 (which is equlized) for paint so we were reluctant to use it. All went well and the wedding left on time.
