Sorry Herb,
I can't find that the SP 5103 ever worked the SD&AE, and it appears to have worked Oregon its entire life under SP. The 5101, 5102 and others did work the SD&AE. None of the SP 70 tons ever had dynamics, but many of the SW8s did. The 70 tons lasted until about 1968 on the El Cajon branch, when the rail was upgraded from 60# to 75# and the SW8s came in.
Campo (PSRM on SD&AE) was under consideration as a possible new home for the 5103, but SVRR was a whole lot more cooperative to allow the engine to return "home" to Oregon. Thanks to Jerry, Taylor and all the other good folks at SVRR!
