Narrow Gauge Speed...

Just been reading a new publication on the County Donegal 3'gauge system (Ireland). I found two references to high speed. Item 1: 4-6-4T "Mourne" being timed at 54mph on level track hauling an engineers train (not bad for 3'9" driving wheels) and item 2: 2-6-4T #2 "Blanche" (4'0" dia wheels) doing (allegedly) at least 62mph on a 1 in 48 descent (before the last eight vans & brake left the road) this is supposed to have in 1951.
G
P.S. the 2-6-4T was superheated and fitted with piston valves - built this way on 1912.
