Taylor,
Hope you don't mind me jumping in. I saw the equipment this spring/summer and it would really take allot to even cosmetically restore what was there. The boiler had many area's crushed around on the interior and was full of rock and sediment. The metal surfaces that matted up with each other have corrided and flaked from rust. From what I could tell, the weight of the elements that it had been buried in have probably damaged even more than couldn't be seen.
The two locomotive boiler and frames that are out behind the shops are in similar shape. Their boiler shells were shot. And the frame, axle's and drivers where completely rusted. I think that I remember seeing the frame split on one of them also.
