Didn't get up there today, but here's a little more information on the RR. There were two engines, not one, both Porter 0-4-2Ts of ungainly proportions, and at least three coaches. The line also served the Hotel Balmoral atop the mountain, which later burned. The cottage had electricity early on, probably even at Grant's time there, as the hotel had its own steam-powered generating system, which supplied other buildings on the mountain also. I don't think the whole line was electrified, though part of the right of way through Wilton was later used by the standard gauge Hudson Valley Railway interurban line. Part of the line on the mountain had 7 percent grades.
