Try Trout Lake on the southwest corner. Two small streams converge as they flow into the lake. Park by the dam and walk the marshy shore. Fish from the bank near the two converging streams. If the water is clear you can pick your fish. (Trout) Use salmon eggs and bottom fish. Had a summer place on the bluff above that spot for many years and never failed to catch the limit. Then you have Lizard Head, RGS grade, trestle on east side of lake. and remains of Ophir loop. Lots of free camping all over National Forest. (stay south of Telluride) What more could you want? This would be like a pilgrimage to Mecca for a NG foamer.
