Re: Daydream RRs: A 2nd for Breckenridge to Como

As long as we're daydreaming, I'll second the Breckenridge to Como motion. Much more spectacular than Mancos to Dolores, and for the sake of variety it's C&S heritage as opposed to D&GRW/RGS. There are already plenty of flatlanders in Breckenridge 'most any time of year, so there's a built-in customer base. Unlike Chama - and especially Antonito - there are lots of attractions for the whole family, and reasons other than just the RR to visit and stay in the area for a few days. While U.S. 285 does not have the traffic that I-70 does, it is nonetheless a very busy highway - especially in the summer - so there would be plenty of potential riders near both ends of the line. Breckenridge has been pretty seriously Aspenized, but Como has some potential for development as a historic site. A package deal with a ride from Como to Breckenridge, overnight lodging, and return to Como the next day would certainly be of interest to more than a few fans and probably even some non-foamer tourists.
I drove over Boreas pass last August, but don't remember the milage. Would the time for a round trip be comparable to that for the Silverton train? (If a RR takes over the right-of-way, then returning by bus would be a LOOOONG way around - probably more time than returning by rail.)
