Yet another question about locomotive applicances. I am sure that terrain, tractive effort, and operating methods of a railroad determined the type and size of air compressor needed for the air brake system.
What I would like to know, is what size air compressor did the C&S use on its 2-6-0's? Was it a 8 inch air compressor, and 9.5 inch compressor, or an 11 inch air compressor?
What size air tanks were needed?
Can you have too big an air compressor? Can you have an air tank that is too big? I am sure you can have both that are too small.
Thanks for the help.
