The derailment was caused by the rail spreading due to rotten ties between two gauge rods. The gaurd rail did its job.
The 21 was in the lead, so the steam train uncoupled and backed down the hill with the train. Then we made trips between Devil's Gate and the Mine. Picking up ALL the passengers that wanted to ride. Some choose to walk.
